Microsoft announced Windows 11 SE, a simplified OS for learning And then there are the laptops that support it
Microsoft has developed a simplified version of Windows 11 that will be suitable for low-performance devices.
Windows 11 SE has a simplified design and a minimum of "distractions" - everything that is not useful for learning, such as widgets and the Microsoft Store, has been removed from the operating system.
Only administrators will be able to install new applications from the Microsoft-approved list. All programs are launched only in full screen mode.
The developers say the new operating system will come pre-installed with all the programs you need to study, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Flipgrid video service. Students will even be able to use some third-party applications pre-approved by Microsoft, such as Zoom and Chrome.
Windows 11 SE is hardware-intensive - most files, backups and user settings will be stored in the cloud. Standalone operation of some applications is also possible.
You can't upgrade from the simplified version to full Windows 11.
Windows 11 SE pre-installed suite of programs.
The new OS will ship on laptops from Acer, Asus, Dell, Dynabook, Fujitsu, HP, JK-IP, Lenovo, Positivo, and will also come pre-installed on Microsoft's new budget laptop, the Surface Laptop SE.
The Microsoft Surface SE features an 11.6-inch display with a resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels, USB-A and USB-C ports, 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM.
The laptop is powered by a dual-core Intel Celeron N4020 processor and an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 600 mobile graphics card. There are also versions with a Celeron N4120 processor. The claimed battery life of the device is 16 hours.
The recommended price of Microsoft Surface SE - 250 $ . Laptops should appear on the market in early 2022.
