Why was Windows 11 worse than Windows 10?
It's been more than 2 years since the release of the latest operating system Windows 11, but users are still hesitating - whether to install the 11th or stay on the 10th "vinda". What can I say, there are still fans of the long outdated Windows 7, which means that the same fans have the same fans and the 10th version of "windows".
But let's look at Windows 11 from a different perspective. Yes, it's a great operating system, it's very modern. But there are a number of nuances that make it worse than its predecessor. Why is Windows 11 worse than Windows 10?
Windows 11 needs powerful hardware
Even though Microsoft states on its website that Windows 11 needs a computer with a processor with 2 cores of 1 GHz or more and 4 gigabytes of RAM, it doesn't mean much. These are the minimum system requirements for installing Windows 11.
Work the system with such hardware data will become very bad - everything will slow down a lot. For Windows 11 it is still desirable to have a multi-core processor with a frequency of 2 GHz and at least 8 gigabytes of RAM, and SSD is mandatory, ideally NVMe.
You also need modern hardware to install Windows 11. The computer motherboard must have a trusted platform module (TPM). Or in simple words, a cryptochip. Without it, by default, Windows 11 cannot be installed. But if a little "dance with a tambourine", then the 11th "see" can work normally and on a very old platform.
Windows 11 requires at least 64 gigabytes of free disk space, while 10-ka no more than 20. For those who still have old SSDs for 120-160 gigabytes, this can be a problem - half of the drive will be occupied by the system.
Unusual taskbar and Start menu
Microsoft has already made the start menu uncomfortable in Windows 8, and in version 11 made the interface in the manner of Apple computers. The start menu is located unaccustomed in the middle, next to the application icons. Not all users liked it - many by inertia take the mouse cursor to the left corner of the screen to open the menu, and here, you need to look for an icon almost in the middle of the screen. Yes, you can return Start to the left side of the screen in the settings, but some people may be stumped by it.
The interface has also changed
Many users note the inconvenient changed interface - new windows and icons, as well as the location of certain options. But this is rather not a minus, but an inescapable reality - practice shows that the user eventually gets used to everything. Personally, in my opinion, the ideal Windows design remained in the 7th version: everything is strict, concise and nothing superfluous.
Problems with old software
I recently gave my parents a new laptop with Windows 11. All configured, everyone is happy. But it turned out that my father likes to play chess program, which was written back in the noughties. On all my attempts to say that there are modern services and programs that are much more interesting and use neural networks, he was adamant. Alas, I did nothing but the program refused to work under Windows 11.
And if we take software that was still written under MS DOS? There are many interesting toys and programs that have not lost their relevance. Already in the 10th Windows with DOS programs was a big problem, in the 11th seems to have abandoned such support. Checked at random a couple of games and programs of those years - out of 5 ran only 1. This can be a problem for some people, especially if they use old software.
Problems with old hardware
Once a friend asked me to help him - he works in a printing company and could not connect a professional scanner with a Windows 11 laptop.
No, everything worked fine, but there was one minus - if you scan one page everything is fine, but if you turn on streaming scanning, new pages are constantly missing. Alas, this problem could not be defeated. The problem is most likely in the driver, which was written for Windows 7, and the manufacturer no longer supports this model.
Support for Android apps
This is good, but what happens if in the future attackers can gain remote access exactly through an Android application? Such a possibility "out of the box" (without installing the appropriate software) could, under certain circumstances, make the computer vulnerable. Of course, this is paranoia, but you should not dismiss this possibility out of hand.
What's the point of all this?
If you have a modern, powerful computer, use only updated software, and don't use outdated peripherals, then Windows 11 will be better than Windows 10. It takes a little getting used to and then 10 will seem like something out of the last century. But if you're a fan of old software and you have devices that may not work with the new Windows, then don't feel bad - 10 will last for many, many years to come.
I have a friend who uses Windows XP for work, and he also has a Windows 95 computer nearby. Why? Because he likes the atmosphere of those years, and the monitor is correspondingly "pudgy". And the crackle of the hard disk is very pleasant to listen to!
